Located in Tehri Garhwal district, Budha Kedar is a temple at the union of Bal Ganga and Dharam Rivers. According to the Legends, Pandavas after the Kurukshetra battle went on the search for Lord Shiva. During their journey, they came across Rishi Balkhily at the Bhrigu Parvat. He directed the Pandavas near the confluence of Bal Ganga and Dharam Rivers to meet an old man meditating there. When the Pandavas reached that site, the old man was not there. Rather, a big Shiv Linga was present. Rishi Baikhily then requested the Pandavas to embrace that Shivling to free themselves completely from their committed sins. The Shiva Linga is known to be the largest one in northern India. The Buda Kedar village attracts both the spiritual souls and nature lovers.

The numerous cultivation fields between the Tehri Garhwal mountains make this trek more attractive. Starting from Uttarakashi, the next destination will be Malla and then Belak. It usually takes 6 to 7 hours to reach The Budha Kedar Temple making it a bit tiring adventure. But when you’ll reach your destination, all your tiredness will be rewarded with the beautiful temples and snow-clad mountains.
