
Agrasen Ki Baoli
The mystic Agrasen ki Baoli – Also popular as Ugrasen ki Baoli is located in Delhi. Situated on Hailey road, this red-bricked stepwell is 90-foot-tall and 15-metre-wide. It is away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The ancient stepwell was built my King Agrasen of Haryana. It is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.
The architecture is intricately designed. There are three levels with a total of 108 steps, along with symmetrical arched niches on both the sides. It adds up to the rustic beauty of the place. The baoli is unique because when you descend down the steps, there are resting points at every level where the tourists can sit and relax. Treading to the western side, you’ll find a small mosque, which comprises of sandstone pillars and a fallen roof.
As per the historical data – This baoli was rebuilt in the 14th century during the reign of Tughlaq. Many people are fascinated by the haunted stories related to the well. The eerie noise of bats and pigeons, in addition to the echo effect of footsteps approaching creates an uncanny scene.
