Uttarakhand, known for its great divinity, encapsulates the core of divine tourism in its real sense. Between the various centuries-old temples and shrines in Uttarakhand lies Baleshwar Temple, committed to Lord Shiva, “The Destroyer”.

An ancient temple devoted to Lord Shiva, Baleshwar Temple is situated in the city of Champawat, Uttarakhand. The temple is a spectacular symbol of stone carving. Built by the Chand Dynasty rulers, the temple is believed to be built between the 10th century AD and 12th century AD. The historical manuscripts of the temple date this Baleshwar Temple. There are two more temples in the Baleshwar compound. The first one is devoted to Ratneshwar and the second one to Champawati Durga. Built on the South Indian Architecture, the temple has splendid Stones Carving. Maintained by Archeological Survey of India from 1952, the Baleshwar Temple if listed as National Heritage Monument. The temple is also known for the fair held on the day of Mahashivratri. Baleshwar Temple, Champawat is known as one of the most artistic temples of the area. This temple once has intricate structural aspects along with a sanctuary having a mandap. Its intricate carvings are still visible on this temple’s ceiling and are evidence of artistic excellence and ancient glory. This temple is a point of attraction to most casual tourists due to designs, many exclusive features, and landscape around them.
