
A Hindu Temple, the Hariyali Devi Temple is dedicated to Maa Hariyali Devi. Located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, the temple is 22 km only Nagarsu. The temple is surrounded on every side by many high peaks and mountains along with dense forests. Popular as one of the important shrines among 58 Siddha Peeths, the Hariyali Devi Temple makes an imperative spot to visit. The temple has a rich idol of Goddess Hariyali Devi on the back of a lion. Maa Hariyali Devi is worshipped as Vaishno Devi and Bala Devi. This temple houses three idols mainly, Maa Hariyali Devi, Heet Devi, and Kshatrapal.
As per the Hindu legend, when Mahamaya got conceived as the 7th issue of Devaki, Mahamaya violently threw Kansa on the ground. The body of Mahamaya into many parts and they got scattered around the earth. It’s believed that one of those parts, a hand, fell down at the Hariyali Kantha. And thus this place became one of the Siddha Peeths. It has also become a house to festivity during Deepawali and Janmashtami, when the Goddess Idol is carried out to Hariyali Kantha in a palanquin.
