Overview

Rested at an altitude of 11,500 ft in the Garwahal Himalayas, the meadows of Panwali Kantha carpeted with undulating slopes and open grasslands are surely one of the most beautiful treks of Uttrakhand. The trek offers a mesmerising view of Yumnotri- Gangotri- Kedarnath- Badrinath mountain range which is an icing on the cake for all the trek and nature lovers. The significant peaks include Meru, Thalay Sagar, Kedar Dome, Kirti Stambh, Chaukhamba, Kedarnath and Nilkanth that can be seen on the way to the bugyal.

The trek initiating from the Bhilangna Valley’s village of Gwan offers a spectacular view of the Himalayan range, lively green meadows decked with colorful wildflowers such as Pink and Red Rhododendron. Every season brings new colors with different kinds of birds. Animals like Himalayan bears, rare musk deer, weasels, and Bharal Ghoral or blue sheep that reside in high altitudes find shelter in the meadow. The view of the sunset from this place makes it special for the trekkers. The lower parts of the meadow have large mesmerizing Deodar, Moru Oak, Khirsu, and Bhoja trees. While trekking, one can find old remote villages like Ghansali, that takes you one step closer to see and experience the Garwahal village life.

 

Triyugi Narayan Temple is a holy pilgrimage site there which serves great religious importance as it was believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married here in the presence of Lord Vishnu.
