
The confluence of the three hold significant rivers, namely the Ganges, Yamuna and the Saraswathi, the Triveni Ghat is considered to be the most revered bathing spot for the famous Ganga Snan. It is believed that the person who takes a dip in the Triveni Ghat will be released from all the sins and that the water will purify them.
The place witnesses devotees from the Hindu culture, making many offerings in the wee hours of the morning including milk and feeding the fishes. The Ganga puja, or the Maha Aatri is another one of the biggest attractions for the devotees as well as the tourists. One of the most remarkable sites of the place however comes in the dusk, post puja when the place is floating with lamps making it a photographers paradise.
Playing an important part in the Hindu Mythology, this is the believed to be the place where Lord Krishna visited when he was hurt by an arrow shot by Jara. But, the Triveni Ghat is not just a place of worship providing you with one of the most beautiful markets. Gems, precious and semi-precious stones, clothes, bangles, Nehru jackets, jewellery and many other little knick knacks are lines up in a narrow streets just waiting to be picked up by your hands.
