If you are stepping into Himalayas for the first time then Kuari Pass is the best trek to do your starting. It is almost beautifully crafted  for the beginner.However, it is still a high altitude trek that comes with its own challenges in terms of steep climbings on the way, tricky terrain and overall physical exertion is also available, but not that mjuch hard. So adequate preparation before the trek is a must in terms of fitness and gears. The trek starts at 6,900 feet at Dhak and reaches a maximum altitude of 12,516 ft above Mean Sea Level on the pass crossing day. On the Kuari Pass trek, you’ll be trekking for an average of 4-5 hours every day, except the pass crossing day which will be 8 hours long.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Rishikesh – Joshimath

  • Drive about 275 km from Rishikesh to Joshimath, with opposite downstream flow of river Ganga and Alaknanda.
  • Explore town in evening time.
  • Spent overnight here in hotel or lodges.

Day 2 : Joshimath – Dhak–Gulling Top

  • Early morning start your day with hearty breakfast and drive to Dhak, about 10 kms.
  • On arrival, have some snacks or fruits if you want, and start your trek to Gulling top, about 6 km of length.
  • Stay overnight here in Camps.

Day 3 : Gulling Top – Camp

  • Start early and trek to Tali Forest Camp and explore jungle for today, collect firewood for night and enjoy bonfire between the jungle.
  • Stay overnight in camps.

Day 4 : Camp – Kuari Pass –Camp

  • Today take a healthy breakfast and start trek to Kuari Pass, with excitement at top level.
  • About 7 km of trek will depart you to the Kuari Pass, enjoy the majestic views in snow covered mountains, and explore the location.
  • After feasting your eyes, with glimpses from Pass, get back to your Forest camp and stay overnight here.

Day 5 : Camp – Dhak – Joshimath

  • Its  time to get back to Dhak and from Dhak to Joshimath, via drive.
  • On arrival, visit local market, and shop some local products here.
  • Spent overnight in hotel or lodge.

Day 6 : Joshimath–Rishikesh

  • Here your trip ends, get back to your destionation.
