About Malana Village Trek:
After hectic days at the office, what we all need is a trip. Trekking expedition to the touch me not village of Himachal Pradesh, is a fantastic opportunity to explore the natural beauty of this region. Start this 6 days and 5 nights expedition from New Delhi on a bus, and it will take around 12 hours to reach Manali. Get down before you reach Manali at Patlikuhal. From there, you can take a jeep to reach the Rumsu base camp. It is a 10 KM drive from Patlikuhal. During this trip to Malana Village, you can visit various places like; Tripura Sundari, Gowrishankar temple, Roerich art gallery, and explore some peaks such as Deo Tibba, Ali Ratna, Hanuman Tibba and Friendship peak.

Travel to and from the trek
There are two ways you can take for this amazing trek depending upon the amount of time you have.
The first one is Direct Kasol to the destination Malana village. This one will take only 2 days to complete the trek. Once you reach kasol, you will be just 21 km away from Malana Village.
The second option is the one we will talk about here. It is a 6 days and 5 nights expedition. During this one along with Malana, you cover Ganachalani and Chandrakhani Pass too.

Itinerary
Take a bus from Delhi to Manali, and it will take around 12 hours to reach. There will be a place named Patlikuhal, which is 20 km after Kullu and 20 km before Manali. You need to deboard the bus there. To reach the base camp of Rumsu, which is 10 Kms from Patlikuhal, you have to take a jeep ride. After reaching base camp, freshen up and have some breakfast. After breakfast, you can complete your registration process for the trek. Acclimatization is a very important factor in high altitudes, so have a walk after lunch. In the evening, the tour organizer will brief you completely regarding the trek. He will give you all information about how to pack your rucksack, a technique to be followed while marching/ walking, and general awareness you are required to know about Himalaya Trek. Enjoy the night at Rumsa base camp with other team members.
Once you are done with your breakfast, start the first day of your trek to the Ghankulhadi campsite. As the terrain of the trek is through the dense forest, which is full of fir, pine, oaks and chestnuts trees, you will get to enjoy the beauty too. It will take 3 to 4 hours to reach the Ghankulhadi campsite, and the route is easy to walk as moderate ascends are in it. You can have your lunch at Sterling. The night stay will be arranged at Ghankulhadi in tents.
After breakfast, start trekking to Chaklani campsite. Chalani campsite is at a height of 3,450 meters, and you can enjoy a fantastic view of Manali valley. To reach the campsite, it will take around 4-5 hours. The first half of the trek will have some moderate ascend, but in the second half of the trek, it will be very easy to walk. While walking in the route, you will be able to see many peaks like Ali Ratna, Deo Tibba, Friendship peak, Tiger Teeth, Hanuman Tibba, and others. Reach Chaklani campsite and enjoy your night stay.
To experience the real beauty of the terrain, you have to start your trek by 06:00 AM. In around 3 hours, you will reach the top of the Chandrakhani pass from Chaklani campsite. Chandrakhani pass is at the height of 3,660 meters. You can enjoy your packed lunch at the top of Chandrakhani. After having lunch, start descending to the campsite of Negroni. It will take around 3 hours to reach the Negroni campsite, crossing the descending route. Spend the night full of adventure in the tent at Negroni campsite.
Today you have to trek to Malana from Negroni. The trek has a moderate descending route, and it will take around 4 to 5 hours. In the midway of the route, you will pass from a small village named Dudhon. The villagers are called Malani. They have settled there for the famous hashish cultivation. Malana is a unique village with its own unique culture. The village is claimed to be the oldest democracy, and the locals believe that they are the descendants of Alexandar. The villagers follow their own law of books and rules. Being an outsider, you are not allowed to touch any of their belongings, such as books and things. After crossing the village, continue your trek to Malana base camp. Reach Malana base camp and enjoy your last night of the trek there.
In the final part of this fantastic trek comes the descending. You have to descend to Malana Dam. The downhill route is steep but short, and it will take only an hour. From there, enjoy the ride to Rumsu base camp and relish the hot lunch at the base camp. After having lunch, depart to New Delhi by 05:00 PM as buses get delayed several times on this route.
