It is generally taken up by experienced trekkers with exceptional trekking skills and a clear understanding of the different trekking techniques that need to be employed while trekking difficult trials. Though the city of Manali has many trekking surprises to offer to its visitors, there can be nothing that can match the grand and the gigantic Pin Parvati Pass trek. It is the Pin Parvati Pass that serves as the major point of interest for the trekkers with the trail offering a thrilling experience. Difficulties and risks are quite common on this lengthy trail. Snowfalls in between offer the trek a daring and adventurous notion.

The trekkers will not be disappointed by any of the sections of this trekking trail that features incomparable views and sceneries of the stunning Spiti Valley. The trail is a blend of gradual climbs, steep slopes, snow-covered peaks, rugged passes and barren mountains. Travel To and From the Pin Parvati Trek

Reaching the starting point of the Pin Parvati trek, i.e. Manali, is quite easy. There are several options available.

  • Bhuntar Airport located in Kullu is just 52 kilometres from Manali, and it is the nearest airport to the place. Chandigarh International Airport would also be a good option, but it lies a little far away from Manali.
  • Visiting Manali by train would also be a great option with the nearest railway station being Joginder Nagar Railway Station. Other railway stations that can serve as great options include Pathankot and Chandigarh.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Reaching Manali and staying there

Get to Manali by car and take rest at a guest house or lodge. You can get accommodation at Vashisht as well. It is 3 kilometres from the main Manali Bazaar.

Day 2 : Manali to Barsheni to Kheer Ganga

Get to Barsheni by car. It is 110 kilometres from Vashisht and will take approximately four hours to reach. From here, you can start trekking to Kheer Ganga lying at a distance of 9 kilometres. It will take you approximately five hours of trekking

Day 3 : Kheer Ganga to Tundabhuj

From Kheer Ganga start trekking to Tundabhuj which is 12 kilometres away and will take six to seven hours to reach

Day 4 : Tundabhuj to Thakur Kuan

From Tundabhuj, you need to head towards Thakur Kuan at a distance of 6 kilometres. So, you will have to trek for at least 3 hours.

Day 5 : Thakur Kuan to Odi Thatch

From Thakur Kuan, move towards Odi Thatch lying at a distance of 10 kilometres. You will have to spend five to six hours trekking to reach this place.

Day 6 : Odi Thatch to Mantalai

Get to Mantalai from Odi Thatch. The place is 9 kilometres from Odi Thatch taking approximately five to six hours of your trekking expedition.

Day 7 : Mantalai to Parvati side camp

Now from Mantalai, you will be heading to the base camp on the Parvati side. It will be 10 kilometres from Mantalai and covering this distance will take you seven to eight hours.

Day 8 : Parvati side camp to Pin side camp

Once you are at Parvati Side camp, you need to start trekking to Pin side camp over the Pin Parvati Pass. It lies at a distance of 9 kilometres taking approximately seven to eight hours again.

Day 9 : Pin side camp to Mud

From Pin side camp trek towards Mud through Chinpatta Maidan which is 25 kilometres away. It will take you nine to ten hours to reach this place. Now you can either drive or camp to Kaza, the main base camp. It lies at a distance of 45 kilometres and will just take 2 hours since you will be driving or camping.

Day 10 : Mud to Manali

Start driving from Kaza or Mud to Manali. It is 245 kilometres away and will take 12 hours to reach.

Day 11 : This will be the rest or buffer day.
