As per a legend, when the Pandavas and Draupadi were roaming in the Himalayan region during their exile period, a lotus flower slipped in Draupadi’s hand. Pleased with the beauty of that lotus flower, Draupadi then asked Bhima to get her more lotuses. Since Bhima always wished to see and make his wife happy, he went looking for the lotus flowers. But, unluckily, he couldn’t find them. Then he decided to go on a trail where a monkey was sitting obstructing the way with his tail. Bhima then went close to him and requested to lift his tail. The monkey said that he was very tired and old to lift his tail himself. So, he asked Bhima to do it if he wanted to go ahead. However, even after many attempts, Bhima could not lift the monkey’s tail. Soo, he realized that it wasn’t an ordinary monkey. Bhima then asked that monkey to show his real self. The monkey then told Bhima that he is Hanuman. Soon, Bhima realized his mistake as well as requested forgiveness from Hanuman. Hanuman soon accepted his confession and guided him to the path of Kubera’s garden. It was just there that the lotus flower was present. Thus, in honor of Hanuman, this place was called Hanuman Chaati.
