Historical references to the trek

The lake got its name from Parashar Rishi, who meditated here. You will also find the Pagoda temple with the same name right next to the lake. It was constructed in the 13th century. This sacred lake has a local myth attached to it.

As per one legend, while returning from Mahabharatha with Lord Kamrung, Bhim created this lake by banging his elbow into the mountains. Kamrung got stunned by the natural beauty of the area and decided to live here permanently. Hence, Bhim formed this lake for him.

Also, the lake has a floating island within it, whose depth is a mystery as nobody could still know it.
